We have worked with West Yorkshire artist Marianne Matusz who has devised and created some education videos and activity packs for schools to use to engage pupils within the topics covered in Bombs…Away!.
The education content uses visual arts, creative writing and process drama – a technique in which Marianne transforms into characters she’s created based on The Peace Museum’s exhibition and calls on children and young people to get into role too. Your school or class will be challenged to get into character to campaign to support refugee children from the Spanish Civil War, design a peace memorial statue and present their proposal to the fictitious Peace Memorial Commission, and more! We hope these videos and accompanying activity packs will bring our Bombs…Away? exhibition to life and help children and young people to explore its challenging themes with creativity and intelligence.
Join Marianne to find out about the Spanish Civil War and how local people in West Yorkshire helped child refugees who were brought to the UK to escape the horror of war. Marianne will challenge pupils to get into character and create their own campaign to support these children.
